Asia Visionary Trip
with Jesus for Asia
We had an amazing experience in our five-week trip to Thailand, and Cambodia. We have learned some lessons that were not easy. We realize as never before that there are yet millions who have no concept of who our lovely Savior Jesus is. In Thailand there are Buddhist temples on every corner; similar to Baptist Churches in the Bible belt of the US. Every home has a spirit house on the property. These are small shrines where offerings are made to the spirits for protection. We speak different languages...the people are busy, busy, busy. What can we do to help them?
Pastor Phamor works with the Karen tribes along the Thai/Burma border. Our dear friend Ben Sharon takes medical and other supplies to the refugees. We visited Pastor Phamor's medical missionary training school and Chiang Mai Academy in Thailand. We were amazed to realise that for $150 we can put a child refugee through Pastor Phamor's school for a year, and for $700 we can sponsor a young person through Chiang Mai Academy for a year. For more information please see www.jesus4asia.org or www.eopmissions.org.
We visited Cambodia--it was the first time we've been in a third world country. The people have a hopeless look in their eyes. They live in poverty, barely getting by. They don't know anything about Jesus. The country is still trying to rebuild from the Khmer Rouge (Pol Pot) atrocities of the 70's. What happened there resulted in a destruction of any trust. They don't trust each other or anyone else. It is heartbreaking to see it. Many people live at the dump, searching for anything they can salvage to sell in order to buy something to eat for the day. The children don't smile, don't play. $130 will take a child off the streets for a year and school them, providing perhaps their only meal for the day. Some of the children we saw in school who are being sponsored have been rescued from the nightmare of sex slavery, where their parents sold them for food (even 5 year old girls and boys). It was a joy to see them eagerly singing praises to God and pursuing their studies with the hope of a better life. Some of the former students are now able to teach in these schools and receive a salary. Thank God for those who are involved in this valuable work. For more information please visit www.asapministries.org.
We have been impressed as never before that we in the US have been blessed of God, but He has not blessed us simply for our own increase, but to help bring hope and a knowledge of God to others who have not had the same opportunities as we. Jesus said to preach the gospel to every kingdom tribe and nation and then the end would come. The only way to put an end to the pain and suffering is to fulfill that great commission! Everything beyond the basics of housing, clothing and food, we are determined to use to do OUR part in fulfilling that commission. Will you join us?
While in Cambodia we visited Tim Maddox's orphanage, Wat Phre Yesuu, in Siem Reap, and saw many needs. Here the children are loved and cared for. Here they do smile, sing and play. Thank God for people who are willing to leave the comforts of home to sacrifice for Christ in the person of His children. For more information please see www.saltmin.org.
In Phnom Penh we saw a shelter for AIDS victims and their families--many needs; 3 schools for street children-- again, many needs. But what can we do? We felt like a drop in the ocean.
We are asking God to show us what we can do. He is giving us some ideas already. He is giving us music and songs to remind others of the needs of His children in who are not as fortunate as we are.
Moses' Song Ministries has been impressed to set up a Musicianary Fund. One thing we learned on this trip is that rock music has found its way into all areas of the world, and the people do not realize the baleful results it will bring. They are doing the best they can but, as many of you know, much of the contemporary music has elements of rock music. The people want to do the right thing, but must work with the music they have. We want to provide godly music to orphanages and schools overseas. We can donate our music to them but we need your help when purchasing other appropriate music for them. If you would like to help with this project please mark your donation "musicianary fund." Together we can help them to raise the standard in the area of music.
If we ever want to do something for Jesus, we need to do it now. Soon will come the end of all suffering and pain, and there will never be another chance to sacrifice for Jesus! God's children are lanquishing in countries near and far. May God help each of us to wake up--'Arise, shine, for thy Light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee!' Let's give ALL now so that we can ALL go home.
Many thanks to Jesus for Asia, for the incredible blessings we received on this mission trip. We can hardly wait to go back.
Your brother and sister in Christ,

The Message of the Music Seminar!
- DVD
Since giving his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, Derrol has found joy in sharing his love for God with others through song. For years friends and family encouraged him to record his music onto CDs. As he and Cindy contemplated producing the Above the Clouds CD they felt a great responsibility to study the subject of music.
They sensed that music production is not a venture to be entered upon lightly. You see, someone may listen to a sermon on CD once or twice and then pass it on, but they will listen to a music CD over and over again. Therefore, the message of the music is of critical importance.
When the Above the Clouds CD was made the Sawyers began to be invited to various places to share their testimony in word and song. Derrol and Cindy found that wherever they went someone would ask questions as to how to "clean up" their music library. In answer they would simply share the things they were learning in their own studies. It wasn't long before they were being encouraged to put these things together in a presentation format, to help more than a few people at a time.
The Message of the Music Seminar is simply a gathering of information from the excellent books that are available here Moses' Song (link to books). These books are easy to read and understand. We pray that you will take the time to learn the principles they share so that you can have the tools you need to glorify God in your music choices. |

Lights, Camera, Action!
-
DVD
Derrol's Testimony:
Raised in the church by his hardworking single mom, Derrol Sawyer, longed for fame and the "lights, camera, action!" in New York City. Finally he got his chance - and took a dangerous detour choosing the "broad way," the fast lane of the entertainment industry. By a sequence of surprising events, Derrol found Jesus waiting for him to stop long enough to hear His voice.
This is the story of how God delivered Derrol, step by step, from the asphalt jungle to a quiet country setting in the Pacific Northwest, home of Moses' Song Ministries today. Derrol tells how he learned to hear God's still small voice. You will be encouraged as he relates the trials and triumphs of his walk with God.
Filmed at the Hayden Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church - November 2007. |
